About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Retail Design Manager. The Retail Design Manager will be responsible for delivering industry best practice and innovative retail designs for our Metcash Food & Grocery retailers. This will be achieved through effective management and co-ordination between Metcash, the Retailer and Developer.

In this Role 

• Design and document new and refurbished supermarket fit-outs
• Manage project approvals, ensuring alignment with Metcash standards and timelines
• Coordinate design and construction documents across internal and external teams
• Review third-party plans to ensure optimal store outcomes
• Ensure compliance with regulations and tenancy requirements
• Collaborate with stakeholders including developers, consultants, and internal teams
• Conduct site investigations / measure-ups and prepare Existing Conditions, Feasibility and Concept Plans
• Analyse store layouts to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency

You’re Likely a Match If:

• Tertiary qualifications in Architecture or Interior Design.
• Experience in supermarket or food retail design (preferred).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD (Revit family creation a plus).
• Skills in Enscape or similar presentation tools.
• Strong portfolio showcasing relevant 2D/3D design, documentation, and presentation.
• Solid understanding of supermarket and/or food retail design requirements, including equipment, layout, operations, food safety, services (MEP), and compliance (BCA/NCC/DDA/AS).
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• A creative, innovative mindset with strong stakeholder and time management skills
