About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as Fresh Specialist – Meat, Deli & Bakery. The key purpose of the role is to build & maintain strong relationships with our retail partners, provide expert support and category knowledge to store & category managers, maximise sales opportunities during key seasonal and event periods, whilst ensuring stores are compliant with critical food safety standards. The role will specialise in the Meat Department, so butcher qualifications preferred but not essential.
In this Role
- Provide knowledge, support & expertise of the Meat, Deli & Bakery categories to department and store managers.
- Provide Meat, Deli & Bakery specific business support to retailers via department sales & industry data ensuring they are maximising sales opportunities and following market and category trends.
- Ensure stores are meeting appropriate Food Safety standards and are adopting best practice methods within each department.
- Provide expert support and knowledge to the wider operations team, working with them to undertake fresh growth strategies with individual stores.
- Work closely with the State Project team, providing Meat, Deli & Bakery knowledge and expertise relating to new store and department relays with the goal of maximising Meat sales and shopper experience within the individual departments.
You’re Likely a Match If
- Strong experience working within a supermarket Fresh department (Meat specific) as a Butcher / Meat Qualified Manager
- Experience in buying within a Fresh category (Meat preferred) and knowledge of market & supply trends within the industry
- Broad understanding of the Metcash Food business (structure, products and services & Metcash network)
- Strong knowledge of the FMCG industry and understanding of the end-to-end supply chain within the independent network.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft applications – Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote
- Strong knowledge of Fresh food compliance and legislative requirements e.g. HACCP, Food Safety, Cold Chain and WHS legislation
