About the Opportunity

The State General Manager will lead the performance, operations, and growth of the ALM business across QLD. This role is responsible for driving sales, profitability, and market share across retail, wholesale, and on-premise channels while ensuring strong operational execution across logistics and customer-facing teams. Leading a diverse, high-performing team, the SGM will represent ALM externally, and build strong customer and industry relationships. This is a strategic leadership role requiring strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of retail, wholesale, and on-premise dynamics to deliver sustainable growth. The role will be based at our Crestmead office, and report into the EGM  ALM Wholesale.

 

In this Role

  • Develop and execute a nationally aligned state-level strategy to protect and grow our wholesale business, deliver operational excellence, sales growth, and profitability   
  • Provide leadership, direction and day to day management of the on premise and wholesale teams across the state as well as local leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of satellite sheds ensuring adherence to company policies and standards   
  • Drive sales targets and KPIs at state level for both On Premise and wholesale channels  
  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Manage the state’s P&L, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness across all operations.
  • Manage relationships with all key external stake holders including suppliers, key accounts and retailers

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • Significant experience in wholesale operations, with Demonstrated impact in a senior leadership role   
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and inspire teams   
  • High level of financial literacy, commercial acumen and experience managing P&L statements and budgets.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage both long-term vision and short-term operational goals.
