Operational Compliance Manager

Maintain, review and coordinate the continuous improvement of Quality Management Programs. Provide guidance to the relevant Metcash State teams for compliance to business operational food safety and related risk assurance programs and provide guidance for the cost efficient development and maintenance of these programs for continued business success.

 

This role can be based in either Victoria or New South Wales.

 

What you’ll do

  • Be responsible for the regular review and validation of operational compliance, food safety and related risk assurance programs
  • Develop and deliver cost efficient operational compliance programs to ensure all Metcash owned retail operations are supported and compliant as well as customization of such programs to support independent retailers via the IGA Training Academy and ad-hoc support services
  • Provide support to the relevant State Warehouse and Retail Operations teams in operational compliance and related risk assurance matters as required
  • Promote an embedded culture change in the Site Teams with a focus on Operational compliance, HACCP and food safety as well as facilitating the training, ensuring knowledge and disciplines become a cultural part of the operations
  • Management of all required quality related certification (e.g. HACCP, export licensing) programs for supported states
  • Support the Recalls Coordinator and Product Quality Manager in the investigation and management of product related issues and recalls/withdrawals
  • Direct liaison and contact with State and Local authorities to keep abreast of changes to relevant regulations and industry developments and communicate this to internal and external stakeholders on a timely basis

 

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive knowledge of Retail supermarket food safety programs, trade measurement practices and Supermarket compliance programs
  • Sound understanding of the FMCG industry and supply chain HACCP compliance requirements
  • Ability to pivot on focus and maintain efficiency and detail as needed
  • Ability to understand and develop strategies, planning to achieve goals
  • Sound Knowledge of Project Management Methodology with the ability to influence others
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the food industry
  • Tertiary qualification / degree in Food Technology or related discipline highly regarded
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • HACCP Requirements - Identify, evaluate and control food safety hazards qualification
  • Internal/Lead Auditor Qualification (ISO 22000 or ISO 9001, preferred)
