About the Opportunity
The SHE Adviser, QLD – Food & Liquor role is responsible for supporting the Food & Liquor business pillar within the Metcash Group in relation to its Distribution Centres, processing, retail and wholesale operations in QLD. The overarching purpose of the role is to support sites to embed the Metcash SHE Management System and continuously improve SHE culture, governance, compliance and performance across all of its workplaces in QLD.
In this Role
Leadership, Responsibility & Planning:
- Assist the State SHE Manager, site leaders and key stakeholders to implement strategies & initiatives across sites as required.
- Coordinate the continuous improvement of site SHE compliance frameworks, including but not limited to the Site SHE Management Plan, Traffic Management Plan, Chemical Registers, Site Activity Planners etc.
- Utilise current skills & knowledge to coach and develop site leaders in activities such as SHE engagements, critical risk reviews, incident investigation and general safety health and environment matters.
Proactive Risk Management & Implementation:
- Work with site teams to regularly review the Site Risk Register’s hazards and controls against Codes of Practice, Standards, legislative requirements and Metcash’s internal requirements.
- Develop and oversee progress of a prioritized plan of initiatives to reduce risk.
- In consultation with the operations team and SHE team, develop or contribute to risk assessments as required.
- Promote proactive site activities that support risk reduction such as hazard reporting and management of change processes.
- Through site walks/observations, monitor adherence to site rules and policies relating to SHE to assist with injury and incident reduction.
Communication, Engagement & Competency:
- Promote early notification, investigation & documentation of all incidents.
- Sharing SHE information with team members.
- Support the establishment of and guidance with Consultative Arrangements and Participate in site SHE meetings where required and other communication forums.
- Facilitating SHE promotion / programs alignment with local, State, and national events.
You’re Likely a Match If
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Safety, Health and Environment support role.
- Multi-Site Operations
- Working with Operational Teams – Site Management, Supervisors and team
Qualifications
- Certificate IV or tertiary qualification in WHS
- ICAM Investigation (Desirable)
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
Technical Skills / Knowledge
- Sound understanding of a warehouse/retail environment
- Hands on Approach
- High attention to detail
- Strong organisational & time management skills
- Strong problem solving & decision-making skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and Influence stakeholders
- Skills in Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Innovative thinking
