About the Opportunity

Based at our Currajong, Townsville site, this full-time permanent Warehouse Manager role is responsible for leading and managing the daily warehouse and operational requirements of ALM Townsville to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations that consistently meet customer and supplier expectations. The position requires making sound operational decisions that drive service excellence, fostering strong relationships with customers and suppliers, and embedding a strong Safety, Health, Environment, and HACCP culture across the branch. Through effective leadership, supervision, and ongoing engagement with team members, the Warehouse Manager ensures the site operates as a sustainable, high‑performing branch that delivers positive outcomes for Metcash and its customers.

 

In this Role

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute daily warehouse operations, ensuring all operational requirements and key initiatives are delivered in line with direction from the Branch Operations Manager.
  • Manage transport load sequencing and staging to ensure safe, efficient traffic flow and timely dispatch across the Townsville site.
  • Coordinate and schedule receivals and container deliveries to balance workloads, minimise congestion, and maintain smooth site operations.
  • Lead and enforce Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) standards, ensuring all team members are trained, compliant, and operating in a safe manner.
  • Maintain full compliance with HACCP standards, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and audit requirements are consistently met.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to support efficient receivals, issue resolution, and service continuity.
  • Drive warehouse productivity and efficiency to achieve optimal pick rates and ensure on-time, in-full delivery to customers.

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • 5+ years experience leading a warehouse team
  • Knowledge with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and Food Grade standards
  • Commercial acumen – experience with preparing, reading and achieving financial budgets
  • Experience executing site plans
  • Experience dealing with conflict and/or having difficult conversations
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships both internally and externally
