Demand Planner - 6 month FTC

Our Independent Hardware Group (IHG) Business Group is seeking a full time Demand Planner to join our team on a 6 month Fixed Term Basis.


You will be responsible for demand planning, inventory management and replenishment functions to maximise business profit, meet customer (DIFOT) expectations & business requirements via:

  • Demand Planning
  • Purchasing and replenishment of Distribution Centres including expediting overdue or urgent deliveries from local and overseas vendors.
  • Management & delivery of promotional stock throughout all phases of supply chain.
  • Value added activities such as excess stock management including return to vendor, inventory analysis and reporting.

What you will do


  • Use IHG’s forecast & replenishment software to review inventory within your portfolio & generate purchase orders on vendors for delivery to regional Distribution Centres
  • Monitor stock availability and facilitate action to source out of stock lines ensuring key lines are prioritised
  • Monitor, evaluate, action & report on SKU’s impacting DIFOT results within your portfolio
  • Regularly liaise with Category teams to develop demand plans and manage other inventory issues as they may arise
  • Evaluate & regulate stock flow into the DC’s ensuring all new lines are compliant with warehouse needs & order cycles aligned for optimum receiving
  • Regularly engage with vendors within your portfolio to achieve agreed supply standards & all other inventory requirements


What you will bring


  • A proven ability to resolve stock & supply issues in an effective & efficient manner
  • A comprehensive understanding of demand planning, warehouse & reporting systems. Experience with “GAINS” forecast & replenishment systems is advantageous
  • An ability to make recommendations to stakeholders based on performance of warehouse product
  • Continuous improvement: ability to identify & change inefficient work practices
  • Intermediate level experience & knowledge in the use of Microsoft suite of products
  • A strong understanding of trade practices legislation and other laws and standards applicable to the role, an appreciation of their importance and a demonstrated ability to follow them
