About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant to support our Finance Manager in maintaining balance sheet integrity through robust reconciliation reviews, applying technical accounting expertise and drive process improvements across the finance function.
What you’ll be doing:
- Review and validate monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Provide technical accounting support including guidance on complex accounting issues in line with relevant standards (e.g. AASB).
- Complete month-end financial accounting for centralised businesses ensuring the integrity of the general ledger.
- Prepare annual and half yearly reporting requirements consistent with the Metcash guidelines.
- Drive financial process improvements through streamlining, control enhancement and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to meet compliance and reporting requirements.
You’ll likely be a match if you have:
- CA/CPA qualification.
- Professional services background with exposure to listed or large private entities.
- Strong understanding of AASB/IFRS accounting standards and their application.
- Demonstrated experience in reviewing and improving balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial accounting or audit within a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as AX, TM1, or similar platforms.
- Proven ability to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
Based in our Heatherton office, we offer a hybrid mix of three days onsite and two days from home.
