About the Opportunity
We are on the lookout for an Injury Management Advisor based in Huntingwood, NSW on a Full-Time basis.
The purpose of the role is to support the implementation of the work health and safety strategy to build capability of management and leaders in their Injury Management and return to work Obligations in accordance with State Legislation. Supporting the Group Manager – Workers Compensation Manager and Injury Management in the:
- Claims and Injury Management for all cases across all pillars
- Workers Compensation payroll
- the analysis and delivery of training such as Injury Management and Bodies for the Future
- build capability of leaders across all pillars regarding Workers Compensation and Injury Management.
In this Role
- Monitoring and reporting on pillar Key Injury Management Indicators on a weekly and monthly basis including injury classification.
- Manage relationships with site and external health providers and insurers.
- Implementing training & educational development to effectively support risk management, drive early intervention, minimise claims costs reduce the likelihood of recurrence of injuries.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of injury management programs including mentoring of operational personnel in use of relevant tools.
- Assisting in the review of policies, hazard Identification, Risk Assessments and controls in accordance with document control procedures and following incidents
- Manage non-work related injuries using a risk assessment approach on a case by case basis.
- Determine fitness for work strategies including the application of Independent Medical Examinations as required to assist P&C with the ultimate outcomes.
- Preparing and distributing key reports on time, including monthly IM reports, audits, critical risk reviews, injury classification reviews and site and insurer claims reviews.
- Proactively developing and assisting managers and other operational personnel with information & regular training.
- Keeping Management informed of OHS & IM issues in the workplace and their legal and other obligations.
- Providing data input for the Metcash reporting system monthly in a timely manner including lost time hours and assist with the update of Evotix
- Completing trend analysis and reporting on leading and lagging indicators to support annual improvement planning and reviews and to drive budgeting and training needs analysis and planning.
- Liaise with medical treating professionals, insurers and injured workers to support claims and the return of workers to pre-injury duties.
- Assist with the administration and strategic management of legal Workers Compensation Matters to ensure that the most efficient and cost effective outcome is achieved.
- Training of Supervisors in the conduct of Bodies for the future, Manual Handling Technique Reviews (MHTRs), and management of the Early Intervention Program for their region.
- Proactively manage complex Workers Compensation Injuries and engage appropriate stakeholders to drive safe, durable and financially effective return to work outcomes
You’re Likely a Match If
- Required – bachelor’s degree in Allied Health related discipline
- Return to Work Coordination Accreditation
- Preferred – Certificate IV and Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety
- Preferred - Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Injury Management / Rehabilitation / Clinical Experience
- Ability to build strong effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Influential and able to engage with others to solicit support and obtain commitment for problem solving and investigations
- Sound knowledge and understanding of estimates of Workers Compensation Insurance Premiums
- Strategic Claims Management Experience
- Lead on investigations of stress claims and complex cases where there are liability issues
- Training and empowering of site leaders in IM roles, responsibilities and legal frameworks
- Advise site in fitness for work activities and provide support where medical practitioners are engaged

The company may require you to undertake additional responsibilities or work in other areas to those outlined in this role clarity subject to business requirements and your skills and competencies.
It is imperative the incumbent is committed to continuous development and knowledge of HR issues, awards and changes in Workplace Relations legislation.
A requirement of this role is a valid driver’s license as the incumbent is required to travel regularly between sites within the state operations.
