About the Opportunity    
This role leads Metcash’s national transport safety strategy, ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and embedding a strong safety first culture across all transport operations. Working closely with leaders, operational teams, and external partners, it drives consistent safety standards, influences safe behaviours, and delivers continuous improvement across our complex transport network.

In this Role 
•    Lead Metcash’s national transport safety strategy, ensuring compliance with HVNL, CoR and industry best practice.
•    Oversee governance and assurance activities, including audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
•    Uplift safety capability through training, coaching, and embedding safe systems of work.
•    Drive innovation using telematics, monitoring tools, and technology that strengthens safety performance.
•    Manage critical transport risks and influence fleet, equipment, and MHE safety standards.
•    Build strong internal and industry partnerships, representing Metcash and promoting a proactive safety culture.

You’re Likely a Match If 
•    Proven safety leader with strong autonomy, able to manage complex projects, competing priorities, and high risk issues in fast paced environments.
•    Clear and influential communicator, skilled at translating technical safety requirements into practical guidance and negotiating positive outcomes with diverse stakeholders.
•    Deep technical expertise in HVNL, CoR, Dangerous Goods, Mass Management, Load Restraint, Fatigue Management and heavy vehicle operations.
•    Analytically strong, with advanced skills in safety data analysis, incident investigation, and performance reporting 
•    Ability to design and deliver impactful safety programs and develop CoR tools, documentation and training content (Cert IV TAE desirable).
•    Extensive industry experience across transport, logistics or supply chain, including contractor managed models, regulator engagement, and MHE safety.
