We're looking for a Payroll Project Specialist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting a significant payroll and HR systems transformation. This role is ideal for someone with a strong payroll background who thrives on accuracy, enjoys working with data and systems, and is excited by the opportunity to contribute to business improvement initiatives.

Working closely with Payroll, HR, IT and external partners, you'll bring your payroll expertise to support key transformation activities while ensuring operational excellence remains front of mind.

What you'll do

 

• Support payroll operations and system-related activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and strong attention to detail

• Assist with payroll system upgrades, enhancements and transformation initiatives

• Coordinate project activities including workshops, testing, payroll parallel runs, cutover planning and implementation support

• Support data migration, reconciliation and validation processes

• Maintain project documentation, schedules, action registers, RAID logs and status reporting

• Partner with Payroll, HR, IT, Operations and external vendors to manage requirements, risks, issues and solutions

• Assist with user acceptance testing and support the transition of new processes into BAU operations

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across payroll and systems

 


 

What you'll bring

 

• Proven payroll experience within a medium to large organisation

• Strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, compliance requirements and payroll data management

• Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, data analysis and reconciliation

• Experience using Chris21 will be highly regarded

• Exposure to payroll system implementations, upgrades, migrations or transformation projects

• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

• A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach
