About the Opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity to join Metcash as a Primary Freight Coordinator based in Huntingwood.   Metcash’s Primary Freight Coordinator is responsible for efficiently coordinating the movement of freight within the Metcash Supply Chain, predominantly responsible for managing the International Supply Chain, while supporting the Domestic Supply Chain. Reporting to the Primary Freight Operations Manager and partnering with multiple internal and external stakeholders, this role will oversee the efficient and effective end-to-end movements of freight. The successful candidate will have proven ability in managing complex supply chains, effective communication with internal & external stakeholders, and a continuous improvement mindset to effectively manage the existing business and contribute to business growth.

 

In this Role

  • Manage end-to-end international supply chain operations, including ordering, supplier alignment, and carrier management
  • Coordinate domestic freight requirements through strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Drive service excellence and commercial performance across current and future supply chain operations
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, transport partners, and key stakeholders
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes to support efficient, high-performing operations
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional collaboration to enhance service outcomes and strategic delivery

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • 5+ years of experience in freight, logistics and/or supply chain
  • Deep knowledge & understanding of International Supply Chains (sea freight & customs processes) and complimentary understanding of Domestic Supply Chains (wharf cartage, domestic road & rail transport, warehouse & x-dock operations).
  • Ability to develop, implement and manage freight and distribution operations
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems, Microsoft Office Suite & similar software
  • Proven ability in stakeholder management & communication
