About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available within Becks Mitre 10. Based in the beautiful north of Tasmania our sites are span from Smithton in the north west to St Helens on the east coast. This position will be based at our Kings Meadows Frame & Truss Plant in Launceston and provides a unique opportunity to join our rapidly growing business.

Reporting to the Frame & Truss Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership ensuring sales output of the site is maximised, site efficiency is driven, a climate for individual growth and development of plant team members is created and customer expectations are exceeded, whilst managing all aspects of the Frame & Truss estimating and design function.

As a leader within the Kings Meadows site, you will have a strong background as a leader in business with a proven track record in alignment of culture and strategy. An ability to build strong business relationships with all stakeholders will also be a key strength.  Experience in the hardware, trade timber & building materials, retail and or building/construction industry is highly desirable.

What you will be doing

• Ensure accurate and timely completion of all administration and documentation required
• Assist the Frame & Truss Manager with managing the department budget, identifying opportunities to reduce costs, identify problems and ensure corrective action is taken
• Ensure that department assets and equipment are maintained in optimum order
• Proactively source work for the Frame & Truss operation from builders, developers, architects etc. including following up on quotes provided
• Provide guidance, support and advice to the Estimating & Detailing Team on all aspects of their roles

What you will bring to the role 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience in developing and/or implementing new processes or systems
• Sounds financial and business acumen
• Demonstrated Trade/Truss production experience
• Experienced using Pryda or Mitek design software (or similar) for residential and commercial construction
• Hardware or other high volume retail experience
• Experience leading and engaging a team
• Experience implementing CODB improvement practices and processes
