Warehouse Manager

This role is responsible for all warehouse safety, service, people and cost management and achievement of performance expectations of all liquor warehouse operations. A critical element of the role is building internal capability and providing development opportunities for the team to have consistency in operational execution. In addition, the role will be responsible for continuous improvement of systems and processes whilst driving operational excellence in discipline and consistency. 


This role looks after two sites – one in Launceston and the other in Hobart.


What you’ll do

  • Lead by example in setting expectations around safety as a core value and management of housekeeping to ensure a safe and great place to work
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of receiving, putaway, replenishment, assembly, consolidation, and dispatch including the achievement of productivity expectations, picking accuracy, order fulfilment and damage minimisation in all Tasmanian branches
  • Manage a team of supervisors and team members to ensure that operational costs and resource planning is within budget and meetings workload forecasts
  • Drive and encourage a culture of continuous improvement across people, process and systems.
  • Engage with the team to develop solutions for improving the way we do things
  • Plan for operational and special events with business partners and key stakeholders to mitigate against adverse cost and service impacts
  • Develop contingencies for resolving critical capacity issues that can occur in the liquor warehouse
  • Provide outstanding levels of service to our customers but not at any cost and without compromising on safety
  • Manage all operating costs for the liquor warehouses in line with budget/forecast expectations and look for opportunities to create efficiency and do better than budget
  • Lead compliance and maintenance programs to ensure we provide quality facilities for our team to work safely in and to ensure we always meet Food Grade standards
  • Adhere to all legislative WHS, COR and HACCP compliance regulationscipate in
  • Proactively engage with Customers to build understanding and relationships
  • Provide positive and proactive leadership to the entire team and creates a fair, transparent, practical and trustworthy culture on site
  • Seek to provide relevant training for managers, supervisors and team members
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Enterprise Agreement negotiations and communications required to ensure our team fully understand potential changes and reasons why
  • Collaborate with Supervisors and team members to meet budgeted labour cost and expenses
  • Proactively identify and execute cost saving initiatives


What you’ll bring

  • 5 years management experience in warehouse operations
  • Industrial relations acumen (Enterprise Agreements, Union Engagement)
  • Knowledge with Workplace Health and Safety requirements and Food Grade standards
  • Commercial acumen – experience with preparing, reading and achieving financial budgets
  • In-depth knowledge of warehouse management systems
  • Experience in warehouse optimisation and continuous improvement cultures
  • Experience in developing people
  • A curious mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Outstanding people leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Customer centricity and service orientation
  • A team player, who relates well to others and can readily adapt and reprioritise
  • High levels of integrity
