We are seeking a dynamic Logistics Readiness Manager until at least Jan 2025 based in Laverton, Victoria. 

 

The primary focus for this role is to be a key part of a high performing team to lead, contribute and support the delivery of a fit-for-purpose operational environment at our new Distribution Centre (DC) in Truganina, Victoria (Project Arrow). Project Arrow is one of the largest DC builds and fit-outs in the Southern hemisphere.

 

Our readiness, and our capability to successfully go-live in the new currently being built and to be commissioned Metcash operational site in 2024. This project readiness should be built in such a way that we avoid and mitigate project risks and issues including importantly project related recordable safety incidents, whilst maintaining all our current service levels and assisting in achieving project cost budgets and agreed timelines.

 

This role is critical in delivering the business strategy and major corporate vision of Championing Successful Independents particularly in Victoria by leading the delivering the objectives of the Project Arrow. The Readiness Manager plays a fundamental and critical role in the success of the pillar’s strategy and ultimately the successful delivery of the Project Arrow.

 

The Readiness manager will be managing the relevant readiness planning, checklists, approaches, processes across multiple internal & external stakeholders and project streams. They will use their operational experience and skills to greatly influence and contribute to the success of our individual project streams up to and post the phase of operational transition(s).

 

A key administrative part of the role is the forecasting of asset costs procured and the management of the receiving, logging and registration of all newly procured new assets so that they may be individually loaded to our fixed assets system.

 

This role has direct reporting line to the PROGRAM MANAGER - DC DEPLOYMENT • NATIONAL.

 

What you’ll do

  • Be a critical management boots-on-the ground supporting the readiness of our various project work streams and providing operational hands – on Bubject Matter Expert (SME) support where appropriate and necessary.
  • Drive relevant and necessary overall program asset procurement scheduling, planning and cash-flow alignment with Treasury across all streams. Critical alignments undertaken with stream leads, procurement support, operations teams, construction team, and the landlord/builder.
  • Specifically work with the Program Manager and Program coordinator on developing formal avoidance and mitigation plans to alleviate program and stream risks and issues. Running critical stage-gate meetings including go/no-go sessions leading through the various transitions.
  • Conduct Readiness reviews, assessments and alignments across all major streams contributing to our go-live readiness including but not limited to Construct, Automation, Racking, Furniture, Fixtures and Fittings, IT, Security, Transport, Materials Handling Equipment, and Business Operational Equipment.  Importantly high engagement and support of the readiness of both the Automation and Transition streams.
  • Managing the receipt, tagging, and registering all Truganina newly procured assets to the site and installing and commissioning to be read for transitions and use. Manage final receipts to feed and upload to New Asset Register and Depreciation schedule on the site.
  • Delivering critical project work packages as appropriately defined and agreed with the Program Manager.
  • Conducting pressure tests and quality assurance reviews with stream leads to ensure all appropriate risks and issues have been accounted for and have planned responses and mitigations.
  • Contributing to design and execution of stabilisation strategies out of hyper-care post transitions.

 

 What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 5-10 years Project Management or Business operational management experience in delivering safely and with immaterial service and cost impacts cross-functional projects in the retail operations, construction, logistics or automation space.
  • Tech-savvy. knowledgeable and experienced in Agile ‘New ways of Working’ Project Management. A strong attention to detail and commercial acumen. 
  • Effective communication skills with an ability to connect across all levels of business to champion the Project Arrow Readiness Plan
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with ability to influence and gain stakeholder buy-in by building strong and effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Formal qualification in change or project management is advantageous.
  • Construction white-ticket valuable.
  • Pragmatic and hands-on in approach to achieve results and valuable outcomes.
