About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as an Assistant Accountant for a 12mth FTC reporting to the State Analyst (SA & WA),  The Assistant Accountant will assist with the accounting and reporting responsibilities of the Supermarkets (IGA) Business. The role will mainly focus on month end tasks including month end close, reconciliations, audit compliance and management reporting.

 

In this Role

  • Preparation of timely monthly and quarterly financial and management reporting for the Supermarkets leadership team.
  • Accurate preparation of monthly journals, month end tasks and balance sheet reconciliations in line with Metcash reporting timelines.
  • Assist with annual internal and external audit for annual Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) and bi-annually audit requirements.
  • Assist with quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting for the finance and state commercial teams.
  • Improvement to existing processes including the streamlining of reporting (using Power Pivot/Power BI system) in line with pillar requirements.
  • Involvement in state and pillar projects as required by the business which will involve UAT, data validation and system integration testing. This includes project reporting packs send to management monthly

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • At least 2 years work experience (does not have to be in finance)
  • Completed Graduate degree in accounting or similar
  • CPA / CA qualified or looking to complete either post graduate course
  • Previous experience working with Microsoft Dynamic D365, TM1, Power BI, Power Enterprise, Power Query and PowerPivot would be an advantage
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data
