About the Opportunity 

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as an Assistant Trading Terms Manager.  The Assistant Trading Terms Manager will join the dynamic Merchandise Strategy and Vendor Partnerships team who as a center of excellence are engaging with Metcash Vendor Partners (Suppliers) to negotiate fit for purpose trading terms which form the foundation for doing business with a supplier. The primary purpose of this role is to engage both Proprietary and Private Label Metcash suppliers in Trading Terms negotiations and achieve successful outcomes for Metcash and its suppliers.

 

In this Role

  • Assist in the full lifecycle of Trading Terms negotiations, including planning, supplier engagement, and achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Assess cost-to-serve across logistics, admin, marketing, and working capital to inform negotiation strategies.
  • Use templates to build plans, align with stakeholders, and adjust based on supplier proposals and feedback.
  • Collaborate with the Private Label team to create agreements, assist in negotiations, and maintain a contract register.
  • Work with Legal on issues, document negotiations in Salesforce, and generate formal agreements.
  • Build deep knowledge of Trading Terms processes and systems and support merchandise and private label teams as a subject matter expert.

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • Background in FMCG, retail, or sales environments
  • Degree in Finance, Business Management, or a related discipline
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel capabilities
  • Experience in negotiations or working closely with negotiators or negotiation-focused teams
  • Skilled in managing large datasets, importing and cross-referencing data accurately across systems
  • Effective communicator with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
