About the Opportunity

 

We are on the lookout for a Data & Analytics Business Analyst based in Macquarie Park on a Full Time Permanent basis. We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst to join the growing Enterprise Data Analytics & AI Team (EDAA). EDAA’s aspiration is that data underpins the delivery of exceptional consumer experiences and enables retailers, suppliers and Metcash to better run and grow their businesses. It is a central team that is enabling data to be a strategic, accessible and valued asset across the Metcash Group supporting data & insights, analytics and ML/AI across business units. With the demand for data and insights continuing to grow, we are a looking for an energetic, adaptable Business Analyst.

 

The Business Analyst has a fundamental role enabling and supporting the business to leverage BI & Analytics tools. You will be confident capturing business requirements using Analysis techniques, liaising with Business Users and providing support within EDAA team to translate business’ requirements to enable the design, development, testing, training and implementation of solutions.

 

In this Role

 

  • Promote and support teams’ continuous improvement in quality and delivery output
  • Utilise functional knowledge to translate business requirements into viable solutions, participating in the analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of EDAA solutions
  • Develop business requirements and functional design documents, end user manuals and business glossary
  • Develop user stories that balance great user experience with fit for purpose User Interface development
  • Regular and effective internal customer engagement to build strong partnerships with stakeholders
  • Work with business units, project managers and project teams responsible for IT delivery and services
  • Provide realistic estimates of the time required to complete specific tasks
  • Support the Data & Analytics Engagement Lead to build positive working relationships with stakeholders and ensure their optimal engagement and contribution.
  • Working with the wider IT Teams at Metcash, to maintain positive relationship with the business, identifying customer needs and ensuring that the EDAA delivery team are able to meet these needs.
  • Facilitate the engagement between EDAA Team and end users to provide solutions and associated processes across its Business Pillars and Corporate teams by gathering and analysing functional requirements and applying best practices to design solutions.
  • Active participation in Daily Stand Ups, Sprint Planning, Grooming, Demos/Reviews and Retrospectives.
  • Support the wider IT teams to build positive working relationships with stakeholders and ensure their optimal engagement and contribution

 

You’re Likely a Match If

 

  • Experience with agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban and Lean
  • Experienced storyteller and designer of effective BI user presentation experiences
  • Strong analysis and design skills along with the ability to translate business user's needs (and intent) into solutions
  • Strong customer (end-user) engagement experience and skills
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of Process Mapping and Data Analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical, logical, verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to solve problems assisting the business in decisions through use of BI tools
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Experience in User Training & Support
  • Knowledge of Testing and quality control
  • Experience with reporting tools, ideally Microsoft Power BI or similar tools
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft office skills, particularly Excel
  • Tertiary qualification in a Business-related discipline
  • Detail oriented and results driven
  • Attention to detail
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience in Business Analysis, ideally related to BI, Data Warehouse and Analytics solutions
  • Programming concepts, advanced knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Azure Synapse
  • Working knowledge of Data Warehouse design concepts
  • Ability to build reporting and visualization Power BI an advantage
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and good skills across MS Office suite
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with proven capacity to prioritise, multi-task, achieve business goals, perform and always work with a customer focused approach.
  • Experience in designing solutions requiring enterprise application integration and data integration
  • Understands the end-to-end System Development Life Cycle
  • Knowledge of Enterprise DW implementation and Data Modeling techniques
  • Experience working with ERP data stes (e.g. Dynamics 365/SAP) and in particular Supply Chain modules (e.g. Purchasing, Inventory Management and Sales)
  • Knowledge of Analytics and Statistical tools and their application in a business context
  • Knowledge of industry trends, evolving business needs, and solutions roadmaps
  • Industry experience of Supply Chain (e.g. Wholesale/Retail/FMCG/Manufacturing) – desirable.
