About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Back End Developer as part of our high-energy team developing and modernising our e-commerce platform and retailer tools. You'll work in a cross-functional team of 13, including frontend engineers, data specialists, and product managers, focused on delivering value to our independent retailers & their shoppers.

In this Role

• Build and maintain robust, scalable backend services using GoLang
• Modernize legacy JavaScript code and tools while ensuring business continuity
• Empower and unlock internal teams and retailers with self-serve tools
• Support IGA retailers' success on third-party platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Menulog)
• Meaningfully contribute to our personalisation efforts using the AWS Personalize stack
• Work with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, Postgres, and Event Bridge in serverless architectures
• Collaborate with data engineers working with Redshift, Looker, and Power BI
• Work in an environment where your creative problem-solving, speed and innovation are valued

You’re Likely a Match If

• Strong experience with GoLang (minimum 2+ years)
• Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript
• Experience with AWS services, particularly Lambda and serverless architectures
• Knowledge of the Serverless.js framework
• Experience with databases, including Postgres and DynamoDB
• Good understanding of HTTP/S protocol
• Strong Git skills, including branching and merging strategies
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and practices
• Familiarity with Auth0 or similar identity management solutions
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation
