About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Business Development Manager on full time basis with flexibility to work from Huntingwood, Sydney or Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing and executing on new opportunities for business expansion across the Primary Freight function. They will also be responsible for the onboarding and ongoing management of Suppliers on Metcash’s Primary Freight function and ensuring that Metcash is and remains the customer / vendor of choice in the market. 

 

In this Role

  • Create and implement market engagement strategies to seek and develop commercial relationships aligned to Metcash’s primary freight strategy.
  • Explore opportunities to drive innovation to develop new avenues for business growth.
  • Develop proposals, quotes or responses to open market opportunities from ideation through to execution.
  • Manage commercial relationships to achieve favourable terms to ensure best pricing and service from any newly sought opportunities.
  • Establish and report on metrics to evaluate performance and compliance to contractual obligations and analyse data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvements.

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  • Experience in a freight/ logistics business development function
  • Proven record of business growth, client relations, negotiation and networking  
  • Exceptional project management, written and verbal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional conduct
  • Commercial acumen and an ability to achieve growth outcomes and evaluate which opportunities are likely to yield the greatest return on investment.
