IT Controls Demand & Projects Lead
Macquarie Park | Permanent Full-Time
About the Opportunity
We're looking for a highly capable IT Controls Demand & Projects Lead to join our growing Group IT team and play a pivotal role in shaping how demand, governance and project intake are managed across the business.
This is an opportunity for someone who thrives in environments where processes are still evolving and enjoys bringing structure, clarity and continuous improvement to complex ways of working. You'll partner with stakeholders across IT, PMO, Architecture, Security and the wider business to ensure demand is assessed, prioritised, governed and transitioned effectively into delivery.
This is not a role for someone who needs everything clearly defined. We're looking for a confident operator who can navigate ambiguity, make sound decisions, influence stakeholders and help mature a growing function.
While your initial focus will be on our Demand and Project Reporting functions you will broaden your scope to support across all IT Controls functions including squad work management, contract & vendor management and audit.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own and manage demand from intake through to governance approval and transition into delivery teams
- Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, challenge thinking and guide initiatives through the appropriate governance pathways
- Make confident decisions regarding demand routing, readiness, prioritisation and progression
- Facilitate engagement between business stakeholders, project teams, architecture, security and delivery squads
- Drive continuous improvement across demand management, governance and project processes
- Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and control gaps, then implement practical solutions
- Develop and maintain process improvements, governance frameworks, reporting and documentation
- Build capability across the business by coaching stakeholders and promoting best practice ways of working
- Leverage ServiceNow SPM and supporting tools to improve transparency, data quality and decision making
- Support the ongoing maturity and growth of the IT Controls function
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience in demand management, project governance, PMO, portfolio management, business analysis or a similar environment
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility across all levels of the organisation
- Strong judgement and the confidence to make decisions when information is incomplete or situations are ambiguous
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts and tailor messages to different audiences
- Demonstrated experience identifying, streamlining and improving processes and ways of working
- A continuous improvement mindset and passion for creating scalable, efficient solutions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Experience working within large, complex organisations where competing priorities must be managed effectively
- Experience with ServiceNow SPM or comparable portfolio management platforms will be highly regarded
- FMCG, retail, wholesale or supply chain industry experience is highly desirable
- Experience helping build capability and maturity within a growing or transforming function will be highly valued
