How do I make a difference in this role?

We’re really focusing on shaking things up in the market and we need you to help us make this happen. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Merchandise, you will lead the Private Label team to develop and execute strategies to deliver high quality products with ultra-competitive costs of goods and commercial terms, by working with national and local suppliers to build a multi-tiered private label program.  You will ensure continuous improvement by driving innovation, differentiation and agility that is shopper led and delivers value to our independent retailers.


Based at Macquarie Park, the Private Label team is a critical member of our Merchandise team. You’ll:

  • Manage full top line and Profit & Loss accountability for the private label merchandise remit and manage net contribution through supplier income and expenses
  • Negotiate with suppliers to provide successful promotional strategies in line with trading agreements across private label
  • Manage supplier, consumer and quality control issues on our exclusive range sold to our valued independent retailers
  • Win share by bringing new products to market in an innovative manner


To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience across the retail sector in private label and product development, preferably with independent retailers
  • Proven negotiation skills that build robust partnerships with suppliers for mutual growth that deliver for today and tomorrow
  • Strong commercial skills with intimate knowledge of the drivers of success in a Category P&L
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • An entrepreneurial and results focus with significant success working in transformational environments
  • A successful track record in being a highly engaged and collaborative leader who can translate strategy to action
  • A desire to make things happen and be the best!
