About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a Legal Counsel, Workplace Relations. This newly created role will partner with Metcash’s Workplace Relations team and business leaders in providing legal advice and support on employment and workplace relations matters.
In this Role
• Providing advice and support on industrial relations matters such as negotiating, drafting, end-to-end enterprise agreement lifecycle
• Assist with the interpretation and application of terms in enterprise agreements and modern awards, advising the business in relation to industrial action and right of entry
• Support with industrial relations issues including disputes, grievances, union consultation and wage negotiations
• Engaging with various internal business units including payroll, finance and commercial to ensure the organisation’s compliance with applicable instruments and legislation
• Assisting in workplace reform projects including reviewing the framework, governance and policy implications
• Industrial relations analysis to assist in the implementation of industrial strategies and initiatives
• Advising and assisting business leaders through the enterprise bargaining process
• Lodging enterprise agreements with the Fair Work Commission
• Drafting and providing advice in relation to individual flexibility agreements
• Drafting, reviewing and advising in relation to the organisation’s template letters and agreements
• Representing Metcash on unfair dismissal, general protections and other claims before the Fair Work Commission
You’re Likely a Match If
• Degree qualification in Law, with Current practicing certificate
• 1-3 PQE (within private practice law firm and/or large corporate organisation)
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Professional, confident and ability to operate in a fast paced orgnaisation
• a proven ability to influence key internal and external stakeholders
• Strong negotiation skills
• Excellent legal research skills, logical reasoning and time management abilities
• Ability to articulate complex issues
• Excellent commercial acumen
