About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a National Events Lead to join our Food pillar at Macquarie Park. This role plays a critical part in delivering Metcash’s national communications and engagement program, including the flagship National Metcash Exhibition, as well as other key supplier, retailer, and corporate events.
You’ll provide both strategic oversight and hands-on execution across major events, driving operational excellence, ensuring smooth administration, and delivering exceptional experiences for our retailers, suppliers, and partners.
In this Role
- Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of the annual National Metcash Exhibition and other major events
- Build and maintain systems, processes, and registration platforms to drive operational efficiency and sales
- Oversee travel, accommodation, registrations, and communications across national events
- Manage event governance, OH&S, compliance, and documentation to ensure smooth and safe execution
- Drive innovation in event management through new technologies, websites, and data processes, including change management
- Support the execution of supplier and retailer events, such as Supplier of the Year, Study Tours, and Challenges
- Maintain event data and reporting dashboards for insights and decision-making
- Collaborate with internal teams, agencies, and vendors to ensure seamless end to end delivery of all events
You’re Likely a Match If
- Strong experience in event management, ideally with retail or FMCG industry exposure
- Proven success delivering large-scale exhibitions or trade shows with significant budgets and stakeholders
- High-level administrative and project management skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and event registration systems
- Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence across internal and external partners
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, even under tight deadlines
- The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in change management and process improvement
- A degree in communications, business, or events (highly regarded but not essential)
