Joining the Metcash Family

At Metcash, you’re part of something bigger. You get the best of both worlds: the heart of a small business, backed by the strength of big business support.

Being part of something bigger means being connected to a strong purpose—where the work you do makes a real difference to independent businesses and local communities. It opens up a sea of opportunities to develop yourself, grow your career, thrive your way, and make your mark.

You’ll be part of a high-performing team, reaping the rewards of our collective success—now and into the future.

About the Opportunity

We’re excited to offer an opportunity to join Metcash as a People & Culture Business Partner.

In this part-time role (3 days per week), you’ll play a key part in bringing our Metcash Purpose — Championing Successful Independents — to life by delivering the Group People Strategy with a local lens for our Food pillar.

You’ll work closely with our Food P&C team and partner with our WA team to drive impactful people outcomes both for Western Australia and across the broader Food business.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Collaborate with the Food Business Partner team to develop and deliver the State annual people plan, aligned to Metcash’s broader People Strategy. These plans support business growth and focus on culture, engagement, leadership, organisational design, capability building, and core people processes to help teams achieve their business goals.
  • Act as the people lead in major business changes, providing key stakeholders with capability, support, and effective people-related change management practices to enable and embed transformation.
  • Identify, design, and implement initiatives to ensure the Food pillar has the right engaged talent, in the right place, at the right time to deliver on our purpose of Championing Successful Independents.
  • Provide leadership coaching and advice to your partner executives and leadership teams.
  • Work closely with the P&C Advice Centre (first line people advice, Employee & Industrial Relations) to understand major trends, address root causes, and focus on continuous improvement.

You’re Likely a Match If You Have:

  • Senior-level experience in People & Culture, HR Business Partnering, Coaching, or Learning & Development
  • Strong coaching capabilities to support and grow leadership capability
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels (including remote teams)
  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes and deliver practical, people-first solutions
  • Knowledge of supply chain and a working understanding of the IR/ER landscape (advantageous)
  • A resilient, adaptable mindset that thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • A results-focused approach with the ability to bring others on the journey
