We have a dedicated team at the Metcash Group that plays a vital role in harnessing data as a strategic, accessible, and valuable asset.  This team supports various business units by providing data, insights, analytics, and machine learning/artificial intelligence capabilities.

 

We are currently expanding our Enterprise Data Team (MData) and seeking an experienced Senior Azure Data Engineer to join us.  With the increasing demand for data and insights, we are looking for a highly motivated individual who can deliver robust data pipeline solutions, effectively manage data, and ensure its availability, reliability, and accessibility for data analysts, BI developers, and other digital solutions.

 

What you’ll do

  • Implementation and Delivery of Azure data solutions across the Microsoft platform.
  • Design and implement highly performant data ingestion pipelines from multiple sources using Azure ADF
  • or similar
  • Development, maintenance and support of scalable and re-usable frameworks for ingesting data into
  • Azure via ADF that result in improving access to business relevant data.
  • Contribute to the definition of data modeling and design standards, best practices and related.
  • development for enterprise Microsoft data models
  • Utilize Cloud DevOps skills and Azure Cloud offerings to develop, schedule and deploy Data sets t
  • extract, load and integrate technical and business data.
  • Deployment orchestration and configuration management tools (Azure DevOps)
  • Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support the data warehouse.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in data engineering within Azure cloud environments; Azure Data Factory (ADF), Databricks
  • Demonstrated experience as a software developer or data engineer in data warehousing.
  • Certification in Microsoft Azure (ADF, Analytics) – Desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and developer others in data engineers’ practices.
  • Strong experience on Microsoft Data & Analytics PaaS, Azure DevOps, Azure Pipeline and CI/CD
  • Strong, Advanced level, hands-on implementation of solutions using SQL, including design, build, and optimisation activities.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and skills, and experience working with relational databases, SQL as well as familiarity related technologies such as spark and python.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data technologies: Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure Data Lake
