About the Opportunity
Metcash's Enterprise Data Team (MData) is seeking an adaptable and driven Senior Power BI Developer to support its mission of using data to enhance consumer experiences and drive business growth for retailers, suppliers, and the company itself.
As part of a central team enabling data as a strategic asset across the group, the developer will be instrumental in delivering valuable and insightful reporting. This role involves creating effective visualizations based on business requirements, collaborating closely with business users, and supporting the full development lifecycle—from design and testing to training and implementation—to help the organization make data-driven decisions.
In this Role
• Drive Continuous Improvement: Support and promote ongoing enhancements in team quality and delivery performance.
• Translate Requirements into Solutions: Apply functional knowledge to convert business needs into practical MData solutions, contributing across the development lifecycle.
• Develop Power BI Dashboards: Create dashboards based on business requirements, including documentation such as user manuals and business glossaries.
• Enable Data Insights: Use Power BI visuals to deliver actionable insights and analytics.
• Engage Stakeholders: Maintain strong, collaborative relationships through consistent and effective internal customer engagement.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with business units, project managers, and IT teams to support successful project delivery.
• Provide Task Estimates: Deliver accurate time estimates for task completion to aid in planning and resource management.
• Support Data & Analytics Collaboration: Foster positive stakeholder relationships and actively participate in Agile ceremonies (Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Reviews, etc.).
You’re Likely a Match If
Power BI Expertise – Strong experience with Power BI, DAX, and data modeling for effective business intelligence solutions.
• BI Visualization & Storytelling – Skilled in designing compelling user presentation experiences and translating data insights into impactful visual reports.
• Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills – Ability to analyze complex business requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
• SQL & Data Modeling – Solid knowledge of SQL, DAX, M query language, and data warehouse design concepts.
• Performance Optimization – Expertise in optimizing Power BI data models using advanced tools like DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and ALM Toolkit.
• User Training & Support – Experience in engaging with end-users, providing training, and ensuring BI adoption across teams.
• System Development Life Cycle – Strong understanding of enterprise application integration, data integration, and BI solution design.
• Microsoft Power Platform Knowledge – Familiarity with Power Apps, Power Automate, and integration within broader data ecosystems.
• Stakeholder & Communication Skills – Ability to engage with business users, articulate technical solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making.
• Industry Experience & Certifications – 3–5 years in BI, Data Warehousing, and analytics solutions, with tertiary qualifications in business or related fields.
