About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Projects & Reporting Lead to join our team based in Macquarie Park on a permanent basis.

The Sustainability Projects & Reporting Lead will be responsible for helping ensure Metcash is responsive to the growing expectations among internal and external stakeholders for reporting on our environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives.

The role will support the Senior Sustainability Manager to execute the sustainability strategy and programmes for Metcash and will be primarily responsible for managing reporting and data systems to support the progress toward sustainability objectives.

 

In this Role

  • Leading a systematic approach to formal and informal reporting on Metcash’s progress to achieving its sustainability targets
  • Project managing delivery of energy efficiency initiatives
  • Tracking progress and leading projects to satisfy 2030 SBT-aligned goals and 2040 net-zero commitments
  • Engaging and responding to formal evaluations conducted by leading ESG research and ratings firms, including, but not limited to DJSI, Sustainalytics, ISS
  • Managing internal verification and external assurance of external disclosures
  • Implementing and managing IT solutions for maintaining consistent and accurate tracking and reporting on ESG performance
  • Collaborating with the Corporate Affairs team to ensure timely and accurate responses to ESG-focused inquiries from investors, clients, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders
  • Supporting engagement with institutional investors on ESG performance
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of reporting and transparency across additional channels, including external website, employee intranet, etc.
  • Assisting with development of, and updates to, the sustainability strategy for Metcash in the areas of energy, greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency
  • Identify sustainability risks and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with internal partners / functions that contribute to corporate responsibility and sustainability
  • Supervisory responsibilities for Sustainability Analyst
  • Responsible for end-to-end project management and/or delivery of reporting including GRI, NGER, DJSI, ESG Report and AASB S2 Sustainability Report
  • Responsible for ensuring audit compliance for Greenhouse Gas Emissions inventories

Maintaining oversight and governance of operationally controlled site portfolio

 

You’re Likely a Match If

  •  Relevant experience in reporting, projects and communications, with a preference of 10+ years of experience in similar roles; experience implementing similar programs in a corporate environment
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting software/tools
  • Technical knowledge and experience with relevant ESG standards and reporting frameworks, including GRI and DJSI
  • Track record of contributing to formal ESG / sustainability reports
  • Understanding and expertise in sustainability indices and managing corporate engagement with the ESG ratings firm landscape • Ability to understand trends in ESG expectations, perform assessments of current performance and develop recommendations for action
  • Strong organisational and written communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, with excellent time and project management
  • Team oriented, collaborative and flexible
