About the Opportunity

 We have an exciting opportunity for a BI Reporting & Analytics Specialist to join our team based in Port Melbourne on a 12-month contract basis.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Analytics professional to join our innovative and dynamic team. As a BI Reporting & Analytics Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and security of our business systems data, building and maintaining our reports and analytics.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of leveraging big data technologies to build stunning dashboards, reports, and problem-solve complex business challenges. Your exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex data into clear insights will enable you to make a tangible impact on our business

In this Role

• Unique opportunity to provide Data Engineering and BI Analytics to an established data rich business and an experienced team going through a growth period.
• Leverage large-scale datasets to develop analytics, reports, and dashboards that support business growth and operational oversight.
• Provide foundational systems, support and strategy across the business for all data repositories.
• Creating and maintaining reporting in Cognos, Phocas and Power BI.
• Strong problem-solving ability and practices to solve complex analytics tasks.
• Provide foundational database support including data mapping and definition across the current SQL systems including BI and Cognos databases in support of the BI team.

• Technical documentation, dictionaries and understanding the enterprise architecture around data flows across the core ERP and online systems.

• Provide strategic guidance with data warehousing, data lakes and all repositories in support of our reporting, analytics and insights requirements.

• Recommend and implement emerging reporting technologies.

• Ability to question data, cleanse and map it to the stakeholders needs.

• Responsible for the development of logical data models
• Encourage the adoption of an organization’s frameworks by providing documentation, training, sample code, and support
• Provide consultation and contribute to project teams as necessary.

You’re Likely a Match If

•  Degree or Diploma qualified in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Actuarial or IT preferred
• Masters or PHD highly advantageous
• 5+ Years experience working in Data Analytics
• Experience in Data Analytics and Data Modelling
• Analyse and transform large, complex datasets to deliver actionable analytics, reporting, and dashboards that inform strategic and operational decision-making for senior stakeholders.
• Technical experience in the following: SQL, SSIS, Visual Basics, Cognos Analytics, TM1, Pronto and Azure
• Experience in the following is highly advantageous: Tableau, Power BI, Airflow, Python, GitHub, Azure Dev Ops, Phocas
• Database experience in a retail environment advantageous
• Experience defining strategy for data warehousing and repositories in support of reporting, analytics and insights teams
• Proven experience in data mapping, maintaining data dictionaries, and architecting optimized data stores to support BI and analytics.
• Strong background in database performance testing and ETL monitoring
• Ability to communicate at all levels and guide teams to an advantageous outcome.
• Proven ability to design and optimize ETL pipelines, dimensional models (e.g., star and snowflake schemas), and data warehouse solutions to support analytics and reporting
• Building analytical models
• Ability of analysing large, complex datasets and translating insights into actionable business solutions.
• Hands-on experience of IBM Cognos for enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Experience across data engineering, data analysis, and data warehousing
• Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills with a key focus on the internal & external customer reporting requirements
• Data Architecture and Master data experience
• Ability to design and develop dashboards using BI tools, particularly IBM Cognos
• Knowledge and experience with Informix would be advantageous
