Queanbeyan Home Timber & Hardware are currently seeking an outgoing and knowledgeable individual to join the team as a Retail Manager. The successful candidate will need to be available to be rostered across the week with some weekend and public holidays included. 

The Retail Manager will provide excellent customer service, specialist product advice to customers and be proficient in sales. 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and grow the people in the Retail team through performance review and career management processes
  • Drive sales and competitiveness of our offer in the marketplace.
  • Communicate and implement effective and timely category / product placement and presentation standards
  • Drive sales growth and improve EBIT contribution in the key categories of Trade, Building Materials and Timber products.
  • Achieve Company financial objectives through effective processes in the store. Maximising gross profit, reducing cost of doing business and shrinkage controls are imperatives.
  • Ensure the Store is providing a safe environment for customers and staff, and company occupational health and safety policies and guidelines are adhered to.
  • Inspire the store team to maximise sales and promote, cultivate and maintain an exceptional service culture.

To be considered for this position candidates will be able to meet the following:

  • Previous retail experience
  • A current full drivers’ license
  • Flexibility to work in line with retail trading hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A sound business and financial acumen
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and manage workloads to meet deadlines
  • The ability to understand and implement a business strategy in line with company objectives
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, coaching and motivating staff
  • Proven experience in managing a team of people
