Hardings Hardware service and deliver from its network of eight locations in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia with an extensive range of cooking appliances, hot water, heating, bathroom and laundry fittings, door furniture and building materials. Hardings Hardware is part of the Total Tools Hardware Group and is a wholly owned entity of Metcash Limited.

We’re on the lookout for a commercially savvy, financially sharp leader to step into the role of Commercial Manager within our Hardware Group Own Network. This is a high-impact position where you’ll be the trusted advisor to the Group GM and leadership team, delivering insights, driving profitability, and guiding strategic decision-making across our retail and trade business.

About the Opportunity:

Partnering & Planning

  • Collaborate with senior leaders to develop and execute financial strategies that support sustainable growth.
  • Build scenarios and identify opportunities to meet budget objectives.

Forecasting & Budgeting

  • Lead the forecasting and budgeting process with a strong focus on accuracy and insight.
  • Track financial performance and drive data-led decision making through clear analysis.

Performance & Month-End Insights

  • Deliver insightful variance analysis, commentary, and performance tracking.
  • Own monthly reporting packs and work cross-functionally to drive improvements.

Inventory & Operations Support

  • Champion inventory optimisation and support compliance with stocktake processes.
  • Partner with store operations to ensure commercial strategies translate into front-line success.

Property & CAPEX

  • Oversee lease schedules, capex modelling, and support key investment decisions with robust financial analysis.

Risk, Compliance & Audit

  • Identify key risks, ensure compliance, and help maintain audit readiness across commercial functions.

 

You’re Likely a Match:

  • CA or CPA qualified with strong commercial instincts and operational awareness
  • Experience in a fast-paced retail or trade environment
  • Advanced financial literacy, strong modelling skills and the ability to distill complex insights
  • Confident communicator – able to engage, influence and partner across all levels
  • Proficiency in Excel, BI tools, and retail systems (ERP, POS)
