About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity to join Metcash as a SHE Manager, Distirbution Centres. This is an exciting role designed to support our Independent Hardware Group (IHG) in executing and continuously improve SHE culture, governance, compliance and performance across the Distribution Centres operated by IHG.
We are seeking a senior leader with constructive and effective stakeholder management, collaboration and influence.
In this Role
• SHE Strategy – Support IHG in understanding roles, fostering safety leadership, and overseeing strategic SHE initiatives.
• SHE Governance & Compliance – Develop and improve the SHE Management System, ensuring compliance and effective operational support.
• SHE Risk & Critical Control Management – Assess and update IHG's SHE risk profile, guiding risk management frameworks and verification processes.
• SHE Training Framework & Materials – Facilitate training and support the development of a Training Needs Analysis for IHG operations.
• Incident & Injury Management – Monitor and manage incidents, ensuring proper investigation, documentation, and sharing of learnings to improve safety performance.
• IHG Stakeholder Engagement – Build strong relationships with IHG leaders to enhance SHE culture, governance, and compliance.
• SHE Alerts & Communication – Ensure incidents are recorded, analyzed, and shared via SHE Alerts to promote awareness and improvements.
• SHE Team Collaboration – Actively contribute to the broader Metcash SHE Team, fostering engagement and teamwork.
You’re Likely a Match If
• Tertiary qualifications in SHE or a related discipline such as legal or sciences.
• Understanding of relevant Australian safety, health and environmental legislation including national heavy vehicle legislation/CoR
• Strong technical knowledge of SHE, risk management, workers compensation and injury management frameworks and best practice
• Knowledge of operational environments (front line operations from a safety perspective)
• Working in a business with multiple formats, leading to varied SHE needs and risk profiles
• Proven ability to develop, drive and implement SHE strategies and management systems
• Extensive SHE management experience at both strategic and operational levels
• Experience leading change, continuous improvement and providing advice and guidance
• Experience working as a senior leader across the business
