About the Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment Advisor to join our team on an initial fixed-term contract until April 2027. Partnering with one of our Hardware Group businesses across South Australia, this role will play a key part in supporting and strengthening its safety journey within Metcash.
This is a hands-on, site-based role where you'll work closely with leaders and frontline teams to embed the Metcash safety management system across a network of construction supply and hardware sites. You'll help strengthen safety practices, improve compliance, reduce risk and drive a more proactive approach to safety. The role involves regular travel across South Australia, including regional site visits by both road and air.
Ideal for someone who enjoys being close to operations, you'll bring strong relationship-building skills, a practical mindset and the ability to influence positive change. You'll be confident coaching and supporting stakeholders through change while respecting the values and heritage of a long-established family business.
What you’ll be doing
- Drive safety improvements across different sites in SA and regional areas.
- Embed the Metcash safety management system and processes.
- Conduct inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Coach leaders on risk management and safe work practices.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
- Build strong relationships and influence change.
- Support regional sites through regular travel.
You’re Likely a Match If You have
- Experience in a Safety, Health and Environment, WHS or similar advisory role, ideally within construction supplies, warehousing, retail, logistics or another operational environment.
- Strong understanding of work health and safety legislation and risk management.
- Experience with audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- Ability to influence, coach and build trusted relationships.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety and a current driver's licence.
- Experience with safety systems, contractor management or plant safety is advantageous.
