About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a driven and future-focused Account Manager to join our Food team. In this role, you’ll manage a portfolio of independent retail accounts, acting as a trusted advisor and primary relationship lead. You’ll drive sustainable growth, build strong partnerships, and deliver commercial outcomes that support both Metcash and our retailers.

 

In this Role

• Own and manage a defined portfolio of customer accounts
• Lead customer relationships and act as the first point of contact
• Develop and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) aligned to customer and Metcash strategies
• Drive commercial outcomes including profitability, merchandising, and campaign execution
• Provide advisory support across store operations (e.g., P&L, labour, replenishment)
• Ensure compliance with legislation, Grocery Code of Conduct, and Channel Standards
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver initiatives and operational excellence
• Support execution of programs and initiatives across the retailer network
• Attend and contribute to seasonal events such as Expo and Easter

You’re Likely a Match If

• Proven experience in account management, business development, or sales
• Experience working with multi-site or franchise retailers
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of margin, pricing, and profitability
• Knowledge of retail operations and store economics (e.g., CODB, compliance)
• Strategic relationship management and influencing skills
• Ability to translate insights into actionable strategies
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A collaborative, proactive, and customer-focused mindset
